Hemp is now making headlines again

because of its potential to help impoverished farmers and artisans of Uttarakhand.

Our organization is confident that we will be able to use this legalization to assist these farmers who have left their homes and families in search of better opportunities. We work to enhance the financial and social conditions of these farmers who have abandoned their homes and families to seek better opportunities. In addition to providing them with training, we also want to create a network that will allow both farmers and artisans to connect. As a result, groups of farmers will be able to share ideas, showcase their work, and find buyers for their products.

In 2017, Uttarakhand became the first state to legalize industrial hemp. In 2018, it became completely legal. In Uttarakhand, many farmers were struggling to make ends meet. Still, due to the difficulty of hemp cultivation, they had given up on it. They had allowed their lands to become forests.

Most of their crops had been destroyed by animals such as monkeys, birds, or weather forces. Farmers are returning to their original occupations and traditional family lives and social structures now that they have full legalization. The farmers had set aside enough land for planting purposes, which helped control the rampant deforestation. Hemp is a valuable medicinal plant with numerous industrial applications.
